Discovering Luxembourg City: Exploring Its Charming Streets and Historic Sites

While planning my second trip to Europe and researching potential destinations, Luxembourg caught my attention. Despite its small size and reputation as one of the wealthiest countries in the world, I was curious about what this country had to offer in terms of tourism and adventure. After doing some online research and learning about Luxembourg’s fascinating history and breathtaking natural beauty, I felt compelled to add it to my European itinerary. With its unique blend of attractions and interesting vibe, Luxembourg became a must-visit destination for my upcoming journey through Europe.

Discovering Luxembourg City

Nestled in the heart of Europe, this enchanting country boasts a wealth of adventures waiting to be explored. From exploring its charming cities to wandering through its beautiful countryside, Luxembourg is full of fun and interesting experiences for everyone. I had three days set aside to explore the country, thinking it would be plenty of time. However, I ended up only being able to visit the city. Let me take you through my own unforgettable experience of discovering Luxembourg City.

Discovering Luxembourg City

After visiting Amsterdam and Antwerp, I traveled to Luxembourg on the fifth day of my European trip. This is what happened during my three days discovering Luxembourg City.

Day 1: Arrival in Luxembourg City

Parcs de la Pétrusse

On my first day in Luxembourg, I hopped on a train from Antwerp, excited to start my adventure in this charming country. The train journey treated me to stunning countryside views, setting the stage for the experiences to come. Arriving in Luxembourg City around 5pm, although weary from travel, the anticipation of exploring a new destination filled me with excitement. With my first task being able to find my hostel, I took advantage of the country’s free public transportation. I hopped on a bus from the Central Station to reach my accommodation. After checking in and taking a brief rest, I ventured out to find some dinner. As evening approached, I took a leisurely stroll around the city center. I soaked in the picturesque scenery and eagerly anticipated the adventures that awaited me in Luxembourg City over the next few days.

Day 2: A Luxembourg City Tour

Pont Adolphe

On my second day in Luxembourg City, I woke up early to make the most of the day ahead. With a long list of places to visit and sights to see, I wasted no time in getting started. Before embarking on my exploration of Luxembourg City, I enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the hostel. Afterward, I made my way to the central station to purchase a bus ticket for next day’s trip to Saarbruecken, ensuring that everything was sorted for my upcoming journey.

It was around 10:00 am when I finally started the city tour. My first stop was Pont Adolphe, a magnificent double-decked arch bridge that spans the Pétrusse Valley in the heart of the city. As I stood atop the bridge, taking in the panoramic views of Luxembourg City, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of the surrounding landscape. With my camera in hand, I captured the breathtaking scenery, making sure to document every memorable moment of my Luxembourg City adventure.

I also made sure to visit the Panoramic Elevator of the Pfaffenthal, an attraction that truly stood out to me. As I rode the elevator, I was treated to breathtaking views of Luxembourg City from above, giving me a unique perspective of the city’s layout and surrounding landscapes. Before concluding my tour, I made a point to return to Chemin de la Corniche, often dubbed as “Europe’s Most Beautiful Balcony,” to soak in the breathtaking views until sunset.
