Starting our Holiday at Camellia Resort and Spa, Sigiriya

I couldn’t think of any better place to start our holiday in Sri Lanka than staying at Camellia Resort and Spa. I was glad that we started our trip on this part of the country. After two flights from Manila and a land transfer from Colombo, we were glad to finally arrive in our home for three days.

Camellia Resort and Spa in Sigiriya Sri Lanka

Surrounded by lush vegetation, Camellia Resort and Spa is a quiet and relaxing place to stay in Sigiriya. We find it serene and laid-back that made us instantly felt home. The staffs were hospitable and friendly. The surrounding was nice and peaceful. It has all the comfort we needed to start our holiday.

It was around mid-afternoon when we arrived at the resort. We had a car with chauffeur from a local agency so reaching the resort was easy. It is nestled in the middle of paddy fields but just about 15-minute drive from town centre and famous tourist attractions.

Checking in was easy. We were taken into our room right away. We stayed in a Suite. Other room types are Deluxe Room, Heritage & Cultural Room, and Family Room. Check room rate and availability here.

All guest rooms are air-conditioned and beautifully appointed. Our room has twin beds and equipped with TV, coffee and tea facilities, seating area, drawers and cabinet. The private bathroom is huge with shower facilities, bath and free toiletries. Our room also has a private balcony with a nice view of the resort.

The entire room was clean and spacious, two things that I first noticed. It has a nice ambiance. The room was really nice. The overall interior is simple but tasteful, which I actually like. I love our room because it has all basic in-room essentials to enjoy our stay.

The resort also provides array of facilities that guests can enjoy. They have a restaurant, sauna, outdoor pool, spa and massage and a garden. We love eating at their in-house restaurant. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner. They serve local regional and international favorites that we found really appetising. The buffet has plenty of choices consisting of Sri Lankan, Indian, Chinese and European cuisines. Fruits and desserts were also good, most especially the pineapples. We also love the chicken curry and some of the local dishes and spices.

What we also enjoyed about our dining experience was the entertainment. They have a band performing every night. Aside from the food, we also got delighted with the service because the staffs were attentive. The restaurant manager even spent a time to chat with us, who was very friendly and accommodating.

The regretting part of our stay though was we weren’t able to try the outdoor pool and the spa. Well it was we to blame because we were too lazy on our first day. It should have been our chance already to experience the pool but we chose to get idle.

Aside from the facilities mentioned already, the resort also provides 24-hour security, daily house keeping, tour assistance and Wi-Fi connection. The signal was extremely weak, though. But I heard that they are already working on their Wi-Fi system to give guests with free high-speed Internet.

Another significant thing about the resort is that it has driver’s sleeping quarter. We were extremely happy to learn about it because we had a driver throughout our entire trip in Sri Lanka. Having such facility was a plus.

The quiet, comfortable and luxurious accommodation of Camellia Resort and Spa made our first few days in Sri Lanka a great start. It was a pleasant time staying at the resort. We like the place and the ambiance. We love the hospitality and the facilities. They provided us the conveniences and comforts for us to enjoy the start of our holiday in Sri Lanka.
