During my recent stay in Vienna, I decided to venture out and spend a day in Budapest. With its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant culture, the Hungarian capital had always intrigued me. Luckily, it’s just a couple of hours away by train from Vienna. Eager to explore, I set off early in the morning, ready for a whirlwind adventure.

With only a day to explore, I aimed to cover as much ground as possible. Often dubbed the “Paris of the East” for its stunning architecture, I was excited to see the iconic landmarks of the city and immerse myself in its vibrant culture. Budapest, with its perfect blend of the old and the new, offered me an experience that was both enriching and unforgettable.

Spending a day in Budapest offered me a wealth of experiences that made my short visit truly memorable. Before starting my tour around Budapest, I bought a 24-hour travel card at the metro station. This pass allowed me unlimited rides on city buses for the entire day, which was super convenient. With my travel card in hand, I left the station and looked for the nearby bus stop. My first stops were Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion, two iconic landmarks I was excited to see.
