Alay Pag-Asa Outreach Program

Bringing hope to children at risk, their families and communities. It has been years ago since the last outreach program that I’ve joined to but last December 11, our company held a yearly outreach program. Since matulungin naman ako :), kaya go ako sa program. I volunteered along with my teammates. And for this year, we helped the children of Alay Pag-asa.

The Alay Pag-asa is a Christian non-government organization with a strong spiritual thrust in its programs and services. Alay Pag-asa builds self-reliant families and communities where children’s rights are recognized, protected, and promoted. – alaypagasafoundation.org

The program has started when we got there. We’re a bit late, sorry galing ng shift. Some of my teammates were the organizers (big supporters of the outreach) and the rest are in charged with documentation (like pictures), games, gift-giving, and food distribution. And I was assigned in food distribution. 🙂

All volunteers were instructed to choose two kids. Sa una nagkakahiyaan pa with the kids but as the program goes along, the volunteers and kids got comfotable with each others. I didn’t pick two kids since I want to take photos during the program, but sometimes nakikijoin din ako sa kids ng mga team-mates ko.

Games. The first game, Bring Me! What is the volunteer’s task on this game? Helped their kids to find and bring the things mentioned by the hosts.

You think the game was easy? It wasn’t. And as the game goes along, both volunteers and the kids became alert and active. Everyone wanted to won on this one. The prize, gift and toys! Yey! Moving on to our next game, we had Trip to Jerusalem. There are already assigned volunteers to join on this game prior to the program, so only few and selected kids were able play on this game.

It seems that the volunteers enjoyed this game. They are having so much fun on this one. Oops.. Kawawa naman ang mga kids, naiipit. Hehehe! After the two games, the kids had a dance number.

After the kids, it’s the adults turn for a dance number. Alay Pag-Asa in-house volunteers dancing in the tune of Nobody!

And for our last game, we had Stop Dance! Okay volunteers and kids, get ready with your moves.

Walang hingaan, walang galawan. Magaling lahat. It looks like no one wants to be out on this game. So after awhile, the hosts decided to change the game. For the rest who are still part of the stop dance, will play the paper dance. For sure, may mananalo na dito. Let’s see what was their strategy.

They were all good! Wow! Ayaw talaga magpatalo.

Eating Time. After the games, the most awaited part of the program came, eating time! As part of the food distribution, of course I took photos of the kids while getting their foods. Magaling, food distribution nga! Hehehe! But prior to that I helped to prepare and arranged the food and drinks one by one. 🙂

After we distributed the food for the kids, it’s now time for us to eat, too! Yey!

Jollibee. As soon as the kids finished their foods, we resume our activity. We had a special guest, it’s Jollibee. When Jollibee appeared from the second floor of the building, the kids got excited and so are we.  It feels like its the first time we saw Jollibee. Lol.

Hindi kinaya ni Jollibee ang mga kids, lahat sinalubong sya. Matumba-tumba na si Jollibee.

Then Jollibee performed a dance number.

The kids enjoyed Jollibee’s performance. Afterwards, picture taking with Jollibee, syempre papahuli ba ang mga… volunteers. Hehehe. 🙂

Gift Giving. Moving on, we proceeded to gift-giving. We had toys for the kids! Kids were asked to line up and get one toy each. We saw the excitement on the kids while they received their toys. Those simple things and ways, made them happy.

And of course, we also gave donations and supplies to Alay Pag-Asa, which is more their year consumption. It has been a fun activity. It was a successful event. Kudos to our team. 🙂
