The Town of Caramoan

On our second day, we had decided not to go for another island hopping due to lack of time. We just roamed around and explore the centro before we left Caramoan. We asked the owner of the inn if where’s the best place to eat and she mentioned Bed & Dine. So without further ado, we went to the restaurant.

Since we’re just nearby the centro and we wanted to explore more of the town, we walked for 10 minutes to get to the restaurant. We passed by the Municipal Hospital and Municipal Hall of Caramoan.

When we got to the restaurant, we took our seats and grabbed their menu. My companions learned that Bed & Dine offers much affordable rate for accommodation, PHP 1,800 for 2 bedrooms with living area plus free plated breakfast good for 6 persons. Good deal, isn’t it. What a waste of opportunity that we didn’t look for other accommodation prior to our trip. It was a lesson learned!

Anyways, here’s our food. Our orders took so long before it was served on our tables. We’re famished!

The long wait was worth it. They were freshly cooked, and they tasted good. I love laing being partnered with fried meat or grilled liempo. My aunt ordered kinalas. It was my first time to taste it. Kinalas is a noodle dish with sauce that came from cow’s head, another local delicacy from Cam Sur (particularly in Naga). The soup was still bland, you need to mix it with spices (or chilli sauce) for it to be tasteful.

We’re already full. We relaxed for awhile then went to St. Michael Parish Church of Caramoan. It’s just 5 minutes walk from the Centro. The church is classy and well-formed, built with red bricks. We knocked at the church’s door and made a wish!

Afterwards, we left. Now, we rode a padyak going back to our accommodation. Fare is PHP 6.00 each. At 10:00 AM, we checked out and went back to the port to catch the last trip back to Sabang, 11:00 AM. Travel time from Centro to Guijalo port is 30 minutes. We are still indeed early for the last trip since there are only few passengers yet in the motorboat. At 11:15 AM, the motorboat departed and we arrived at Sabang Beach at 01:00 PM. From Sabang Beach, we rode a jeepney going to Pili Centro.

When we arrived at Pili Centro, we took our late lunch at Graceland Plaza then bought some pasalubong at Pili Market.  It has been an amazing trip in Caramoan. Though it wasn’t complete (island hopping), we still enjoyed it. The memories and experience is truly surprising.

Trip Tips:

  • Explore the town of Caramoan by going to the market, smalls shops at the centro and the mangrove area.
  • If you still have another full day to spend, then go for another island hopping and go to the Caramoan Peninsula National Park.
  • If you want to stay near the beach, there are inns and lodging available at Paniman Beach.
